What our customers have to say...

I don't know what we would have done when our DJ didn't show up. We were so thankful that you were there to handle the situation so that we didn't have to worry about it at all.

What an amazing job you did with this wedding. Such a unique idea, our guests loved it and are still talking about it. You two are an amazing team. Thanks so much.

I have never been so relaxed, it has been so great to just enjoy the wedding and the planning without all the stress and hassle of dealing with everyone and everything.  I'm telling everyone - get a planner - it's the best thing I have ever done. You guys are great!

Bridal Shows

What an amazing creation - the Bridal Show!!!  It's almost a one stop shop for all your wedding needs! We are big fans!!

Things to consider about Bridal Shows....

1. The personalities of the vendors.  Sadly, not all vendors have a 'people-lovin' personality'. If you don't feel comfortable and welcome with them when you are at their booth...no matter their amazing deal - you are not going to feel comfortable working with them.

2. Shows are a great way to get a deal!  Most vendors at a Bridal Show will offer 'show specials' that are only valid if you were at the show. Not to mention, most vendors will price hold, which means you can book now at their 2013 show special rate for your 2014 wedding!!!

3. Freebies!!  Hellllooooo, who does not LOVE freebies! Everything from cake samples, to candy buffet treats, photo booth pictures...and the PRIZES!! Most shows offer door prizes and grand prizes, and most vendors offer prizes right at their booth (usually one of their services)

4. Use caution when entering draws at vendors booths....it is unfortunate that some prizes come with 'strings attached' which may or may not be a good deal. We won a free videographer for a wedding, which was super exciting...the attached string was that we had to purchase a photgraphy package first in order to claim our prize. This can be a great deal if you haven't already booked a photographer (we had!) and if you like the photographers work and price packages.

5. Be honest with vendors.  We really are not at the show to sucker you in, most wedding professionals are in the wedding business because they truly love weddings and want to offer you the best of their services. If what they're offering is not of interest to you, just say so. (they'll still let you enter their draw!)

6. Don't make 'on the spot' decisions.  I know that you are probably shocked that I would say that....but it's easy to fall in love with an idea...then find a better idea two rows over.  Tour the show, enjoy the show, collect brochures and business cards from everyone you love, then make your decisions. By the time you have seen all the vendors, you'll know what ideas, and people you are truly in love with.  Go back and chat with them again!

7. Most of all, have fun. It's a great mother/daughter day, or a girls day out....you might even want to bring the groom...afterall it is his wedding also! (And they actually have fun too!)

What could go wrong?

It’s hard to imagine that your ‘perfect’ day could ever have any glitches in it…we know! When it comes to weddings and wedding planning, many of us have a romanticized view of how things are going to go down, and we NEVER believe that anything could ever go wrong.

WRONG!

Weddings are full of details, and even well orchestrated weddings run into trouble.

The ceremony is carefully timed, one missed cue and someone might not get down the aisle while the music is still playing. And who decides when the music starts playing in the first place? At one wedding the officiant was so time conscious that he was leading the bridal party to the aisle not noticing the absence of the Father of the Bride!

Did you even think that one of your vendors, like your D.J., might not show up? It has happened! Even vendors with the very best reputations and referrals are still human and make mistakes.

These are just some of the benefits of using a qualified and certified Wedding Planner.  Your Planner is there to put out the fires, fix the mistakes and make sure everything runs on time and in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

Leave the details to the professionals so that you, your families and friends can sit back and enjoy the beauty of your special and long awaited ‘perfect’ day.

Vendor Care

When planning your wedding, it is extremely important to pick ALL of your vendors with great care!  It’s a lesson a lot of us have learned the hard way.  With options like Kijiji, Caig’s List, Groupon, etc., it is  great temptation to find vendors that will provide the services you desire at a cheap rate.  While it seems like a great idea to use these discounted vendors, you HAVE to do serious research into their credentials and abilities long before you sign on any dotted lines!

Let me give you a pretty clear example.

A Bride and Groom hired us to provide a candy buffet for their wedding.  The Bride had the thought that candy apples would be a perfect addition to the table, we agreed.  We immediately went on the hunt for an economical but reliable candy apple maker.  Using Kijiji, we found, what we thought, was a perfect choice.

The request was white chocolate apples with fuscia drizzle.

Our vision (ish):

What was delivered:

These apples were far from acceptable, and far from what we expected! They were ordered from a seemingly knowledgeable candy maker who has done candy apple favours for many weddings with great success. (Something we now question.)

While a picture is worth a thousand words, remember vendors are not going to post pictures of their failures with their ad! Insist on seeing* a sample of what you're purchasing BEFORE purchasing!!!     *Seeing - with your own eyes - not a picture!

How we fixed our problem:

Fortunately we were able to get last minute help from The Fudge Factory in the heart of tourism central in Niagara Falls. They happily and quickly made apples for us that were fantastic and picture perfect!

A serious lesson was learned this day…one we need to pass on to all our Brides, Grooms and fellow wedding vendors… know who you hire and if you want to take a chance with someone new…MAKE SURE YOU HAVE BACK UP!!!

Many, many, thanks to The Fudge Factory for their incredible customer service! (And for saving our reputation!)

Lesson Learned!

Napkin No-No's

Although it is a very popular trend, resist the urge to put your napkins in the drinking glasses on your tables!!

It might look pretty but there are a few reasons why you never want to do this.

#1.....FLUFF....Think about it. All materials leave dust/lint particles behind, and as you shove the napkin in the glasses you are also shoving dust and lint into the glasses with your napkins.  When the napkins are pulled out by your guests...guess what's left behind???  You got it, lint.  Your guests are drinking lint with their water...Yuck!

#2....CLEANLINESS....Have you stopped to consider how much those pretty napkins have to be handled before being put into the glass? Not only the napkins get man-handled, but so do the glasses.  The napkins have to be placed in just perfectly to acheive the proper look, sometimes that means hands get in the glasses, or on the rims. Another Yuck!

#3....PERFECTION....Unless you have a wedding venue that is very, very particular andvery  detailed oriented, there is an excellent chance that your napkins will NOT all look pretty, nor will they all be uniform.  Venue staff have big jobs, and it is very time consuming to prettily fold napkins into perfection.  More often than not, we see napkins just stuffed in the glasses. NOT visually appealing, and not attractive for your guests.

Consider some of the following options for your napkins.....

The simple fold. NOT put on plates (no lint on dishes) Clean and sanitary!

Beautiful roll, with flower, or napkin ring, set on the table BESIDE the place setting.

The knot. Elegantly set above the place setting.

Take some time, do some research, there are tons of beautiful ideas that will add punch to your table while providing a clean and sanitary environment for your guests.

Theme It!!!

Have fun with your wedding and theme it!  A theme can add tons of visual fun for your guests as well as a lot of entertainment value. There is no need to do away with 'all' the traditions of a wedding, but a well planned theme can add an extra boost of fun to your perfect day. Just be sure that your chosen theme is evident in ALL of your details.

Here are some of our fun suggestions:

Sherlock Holmes/ Murder Mystery Theme

The theme was set from the invitations right until the end of the night.  With a Photobooth, Murder Mystery to solve and tons of "Sherlock Holmes" themed fun

Outdoor Fun

Renting a "Bouncy House" is as much fun for the kids at your wedding as it is for you and you new spouse. Follow up the details with balloon centerpieces, candy bouquets and candy jars for your guests to enjoy.

Hockey Theme

Hockey fan Grooms (and Brides) everywhere would LOVE to have their ceremony at an arena, but don't stop there.  Details abound with ice sculptured centerpieces and a framed hockey stick for guests to sign add to the theme.

Simple Elegance

In a day and age, where it seems that bigger is better, we need to take a step back, take a look at our budget, our personality and style and decide - is bigger really better?

Sometimes simple elegance makes a bigger statement than an over the top look.

Here's some food for thought.......
